I know rosetta is a workaround but from what I understand it significantly affects system performance.

one being a lot of software I use not being native to m1 yet. Plus I'd have to spend hundreds to get my hard drives and apogee card to work via pcie thunderbolt enclosures etc. My options are either get a 5,1 maxed out, 6,1 maxed out but my concerns are GPU/OS compatibility from big sur onwards for the 5,1Īnd the cost of 6,1 being a bit steep considering it's a massive risk with the notorious quality issues it has with the GPUs failing constantly with so many people. My computer now is totally maxed out 3,1 (3ghz, 96mb ram, pcie ssd) running Logic Pro and Apogee symphony mark 1 via pcie and running on osx 10.13 which is the max it'll go. I am eagerly waiting for a real deal mac pro with ARM based chip which is I guess a couple years away and I need something to get me there in the meantime. I need a "bridge" between my aging 3,1 mac pro and a future m1 mac pro.ĪRM/Apple silicon is the future but it is the future and not now.
